striving

striving is sin

Question was posed... How to live without striving....
by Rachel Moser Patterson on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 2:49pm

Well...I'm not sure I can say I live in complete victory here but I do have an attitute of gratitude...Things could always be worse! There are just so many of His promises to take care of us and so many times that He has in my life. "Do not Worry, Do not fear, Do not be anxious", ... these are commands not suggestions. We must be made aware of what we give power too. These are attitudes that if we give them power they will control our life. Jesus came to set us free form these shackles. Go back to when you were at peace within, what makes you really happy...this is the calling on your life. If it is giving water to the thirsty, giving money to needy, hugging the unloved to share Jesus...Then that is your call! He will take care of the rest!

me:  soo... when does obeying become stiving?
Benjamin:  when we do things outside of His grace, in our own strength

a good word!!

something more about Jonah: even thought Jonah didn't obey God right away God still used him after the event in the whale

so even if we don't obey God the first time, we still have other chances to obey Him... but you better obey Him the second and third time, etc....

don't be like Jonah in the whale

Jonah 3 (New International Version, ©2011)
Jonah 3
Jonah Goes to Nineveh
1 Then the word of the LORD came to Jonah a second time: 2 “Go to the great city of Nineveh and proclaim to it the message I give you.”
3 Jonah obeyed the word of the LORD and went to Nineveh. Now Nineveh was a very large city; it took three days to go through it. 4 Jonah began by going a day’s journey into the city, proclaiming, “Forty more days and Nineveh will be overthrown.” 5 The Ninevites believed God. A fast was proclaimed, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth.
6 When Jonah’s warning reached the king of Nineveh, he rose from his throne, took off his royal robes, covered himself with sackcloth and sat down in the dust. 7 This is the proclamation he issued in Nineveh:
“By the decree of the king and his nobles:
Do not let people or animals, herds or flocks, taste anything; do not let them eat or drink. 8 But let people and animals be covered with sackcloth. Let everyone call urgently on God. Let them give up their evil ways and their violence. 9 Who knows? God may yet relent and with compassion turn from his fierce anger so that we will not perish.”
10 When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he relented and did not bring on them the destruction he had threatened.

(the king of Nineveh had his entire kingdom/city "call urgently on God" and asked them to not sin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!    amazing!!!!!!)

Does God Exist?

DOES GOD EXIST?

This is one of the best explanations on the
nature of God that I have ever seen...

A man went to a barbershop to have his hair
cut and his beard trimmed. As  the barber began
to work, they began to have a good  conversation.
They talked about so many things and various subjects.

When they eventually touched on the subject of God,
the  barber said: 'I don't believe that God exists.'

'Why do you say that?' asked the customer.
'Well, you just have to go out in the street to
realize that God doesn't exist.

Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many
sick people? Would there be abandoned children?

If God existed, there would be neither
suffering nor pain.

I can't imagine a loving God who would
allow all of these things.'

The customer thought for a moment, but
didn't respond because he didn't want to
start an argument.

The barber finished his job and the customer
left the  shop.

Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a
man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair
and an  untrimmed   beard.

He looked dirty and unkempt. The customer
turned back and entered the barbershop again
and he said to the barber:

'You know what? Barbers do not exist.'

'How can you say that?' asked the surprised
barber. 'I am here, and I am a barber. And I
just worked on you!'

'No!' the customer exclaimed. 'Barbers don't
exist because if they did, there would be no
people with dirty long hair and untrimmed
beards, like that man outside.'

'Ah, but barbers DO exist! That's what happens
when  people do not come to me.'

'Exactly!' affirmed the customer. 'That's the
point! God, too, DOES exist! That's what
happens when people do not go to Him and don't
look to Him for help.
That's why there's so much pain and suffering in
the world.'

If  you think God exists, send this to other
people---

If  you think God does not exist, delete it!

BE BLESSED &
BE A BLESSING TO OTHERS!

I really liked this, I hope you share it.........
